Commonwealth Resource Management: Clean Energy from the Dirtiest of Places

Landfills Stink! Everyone knows that. But you might not know that they're also a major part of the global warming problem. Every year landfills in the US release over 1.1 million tons of methane with the global warming equivalent the equivalent of 38 million tons (83 billion pounds) of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Commonwealth Resource Management is a New England based organization that works to capture methane from old landfills then uses it to produce clean energy. This destroys harmful methane and produces electricity that would otherwise be generated from dirtier source. It’s a double whammy.
