Why are your bottles made in China?
Our bottles are responsibly made in southern China. We have full confidence in their production. Not only did we hand pick the factory, but we visit the factory regularly to ensure that the highest standards for workers' safety and health are met. We have our products independently tested and we test them internally as well. All materials are approved of by the FDA and our products are certified by even the most rigorous standards. Factory workers are paid a fair wage and treated with respect. Our factory in China is able to produce a consistent and reliable product at an affordable price. Unfortunately we haven't found an acceptible alternative in the states yet. Our goal at Guyot Designs is to reduce our environmental impact whithout sacrificing the quality of our product or the safety of our consumers or employees. This requires looking at the entire material life cycle of the product from the recycling center, to you, and back to the recycling center. It's always an optimization problem and currently our best solution for stainless bottles requires they be manufactured in China. If you're aware of other economical alternatives, please drop us a line.
